Ryedale District Council encourages residents to recycle more

Recycling of domestic waste has become a necessity in recent years driven both by environmental concerns but also as a result of landfill costs rising rapidly. In this film John Brown, Environment Officer for Ryedale District Council, describes what local residents can do to assist in the drive to 'dump less and recycle more'.

Ryedale District Council operates recycling banks for plastic bottles, glass, cans, paper, textiles, books and aluminium foil at a number of sites across the district. Pictured here is one in Kirkbymoorside adjacent to the Primary School. This makes it really easy for parents to do their recycling whilst dropping their children off and is just off the main commuter route, the A170.

The council, in conjunction with Tetra Pak Ltd and the carton industry body ACE (Alliance for Beverage Cartons and the Environment) also have new black beverage carton recycling banks located there which you can see in the slideshow.

More information on recycling in Ryedale can be found here.
