We regret to announce the imminent closure of this blog.
Gareth started it six years ago, along with companion blogs for Pickering and Kirkbymoorside, and was soon joined by Jean as a major contributor. Other contributors have come and gone, but none have been able to make a long term commitment. Individuals, businesses, charities, and other bodies occasionally send items for publication, but these have not been at a rate sufficient to make the blog a must-visit site. Sourcing material ourselves, despite the overlap between the three blogs, is a lot of work, which we undertake on an entirely voluntary basis, and with no official support from any of the towns.
Both of us live in Kirkby and it was always our hope that the Helmsley and Pickering blogs should have their own editorial teams within the towns. This has not happened, and recent attempts to find new contributors have not been successful. Personal and work demands for both of us have grown in recent months and, having reluctantly concluded that our early expectations are now unlikely to be met, we have decided to call it a day.
The Pickering blog is in the process of being taken over by a local website design company and will carry on.
We hope you will continue to visit the Kirkbymoorside blog for news, views and reviews, which will continue to feature items about Helmsley.
Thank you to those who have supported the Helmsley blog over the last six years. We’ve had fun, we hope you have too.
THIS IS OUR FINAL POSTING
